Acupuncture Treatment for Pets
Acupuncture has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years, reaping great results for people worldwide. In recent years, the veterinary community has applied this proven treatment to dogs, cats and other animals to great effect. It is often recommended as an add-on therapy to more traditional treatments. Kindly reach out to us at 902.863.3157 to learn more about our acupuncture services for your furry family member.
How can acupuncture help my pet?
Inserting thin needles into various areas of the pet’s body has been proven to reduce pain and inflammation. Pets who have been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, allergies, arthritis, digestive issues, chronic pain, and many other conditions can benefit from arthritis. Pets recovering from invasive surgery may also benefit from acupuncture.
Does pet acupuncture have any side effects?
It is possible for a pet to get an infection from the needles, although this side effect is incredibly rare.
What is a veterinary acupuncturist?
Our licensed veterinarians complete a rigorous training program to obtain their veterinary acupuncturist certification. These veterinarians have additional training to perform pet acupuncture.
How do I know if acupuncture is right for my pet?
During a consultation with our team, we can determine if your furry friend is a good candidate. Pets who are hyperactive, have an aversion to needles, or are prone to infection may not be good candidates for acupuncture. In these cases, your veterinarian may recommend alternatives like acupressure – which is massaging trigger points on problem areas.
